Festive neighbours plea
Date -17 Dec 2009 Return to previous page

People in Moray have been urged not to make life a misery for neighbours over the festive period.

Traditionally it is the time of year when everyone enjoys themselves with family and friends.

But house parties and the noise they generate can have an adverse impact on those living nearby and neighbour nuisance complaints generally increase over the Christmas and New Year period.

Moray Council’s anti-social behaviour co-ordinator, Andy Jamieson, appealed to people holding parties to show consideration to their neighbours.

“If you are planning a party, please advise your neighbours beforehand and keep the music and noise to a reasonable level,” he said.

“Anti-social behaviour has a huge impact on communities but it is particularly stressful if you are suffering it within your own home. At this season of goodwill, neighbours should be considerate to one another and give special consideration to the old and vulnerable within our communities.

“By being considerate to your neighbours and to vulnerable members of the community, everyone will be able to enjoy a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year.”

A free anti-social behaviour reporting line is available to everyone in Moray. The line – 0800 58 77 197 – is manned 24 hours a day.

If the situation is urgent Grampian Police can be contacted on 0845 600 5700.
